BIG THINGS FOR THE STATE~
Alaska Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Deployment Plan
In 2022, the Alaska Energy Authority (AEA) and the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) received approval from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to build a network of EV charging stations along Alaska's highways. The plan is part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), which provides $5 billion nationally for EV charging infrastructure. Alaska is eligible for more than $50 million over five years through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program, with $7.8 million in 2022 and $11.1 million in 2023. AEA has also awarded VW Trust funds to install nine EV fast-charging stations between the Kenai Peninsula and Healy. WWW.AKENERGYAUTHORITY.ORG
EV rebates
Alaska Power and Telephone (AP&T) offers a $500 rebate to residential customers who buy a new or used EV with a minimum battery size of 14 kilowatts. The Commercial Energy Authority (CEA) also offers rebates to commercial customers who purchase and install Level 2 and direct current (DC) fast chargers. AFDC.ENERGY.GOV
